In an effort to spread the word about the importance of continuing education after high school while having fun, Columbus Technical College will be hosting a special event called “Spring into College.” While anyone interested in postsecondary education is more than welcome, high school students, their parents and families are especially encouraged to attend. The event will be held Saturday, June 6 from 10AM – 1PM at Columbus Technical College’s Robert L. Wright, Jr. Health Sciences Center on River Road.

Organizers will provide tours of the health sciences building, lunch, games and rides for the kids, there will be free demonstrations by various programs and much more. Of course, there is a serious side to all the fun. Representatives from different areas of the college will be on hand to accept applications, process admissions documents and provide financial aid processing assistance.

“Columbus Technical College is the ideal place for students wanting to jump start their college careers,” said event organizer and campus life coordinator Valerie Richardson. “For instance, students who will be juniors or seniors in high school this fall can earn college credit through dual enrollment – at no charge! And those who have already graduated or need to come back to college can do so in an affordable manner.”

On the subject of affordability, the Technical College System of Georgia recently announced that there will be no tuition increase for the upcoming school year. The standard tuition rate is $89 per credit hour meaning the average tuition for a full, 12-hour course load costs just over $1,000 plus books and fees. Columbus Technical College and its sister TCSG institutions have several financial aid options including HOPE, Pell, VA, GI Bill and much more.
