Synovus, the Columbus, Georgia-based financial services company, announced that Jim Gunby will join Synovus Trust Company as senior trust relationship manager September 1.  He will serve Synovus Trust and Private Wealth Management clients from the firm’s Uptown Center office in Columbus.

Gunby brings more than four decades of financial services experience to Synovus Trust, including over 30 years in trust and fiduciary services.  He joins Synovus from SunTrust, where he served private wealth management and large trust clients across middle and south Georgia for more than 20 years.

“Jim is an industry veteran at the top of his field, and we are proud to have him on board,” said George Flowers, president and chairman of Synovus Trust.  “His deep industry knowledge, proven commitment to client service, and extensive knowledge of communities around Georgia will be a powerful addition to our team at Synovus Trust.”

Gunby joins an experienced team at Synovus Trust, including Ronnie Bridges, Beth Brown, Robert Nobles, and Wade Fowler.

Gunby is a graduate of the University of Georgia, the Georgia Banking School, and the Southern Trust School. He lives in Columbus and serves on the local Salvation Army Advisory Board.
