Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Tuesday, September 15th, 2015
The Steeplechase at Callaway Garden’s mascot, Horace the Horse, and the Steeplechase leaders are Zip Lining across the Chattahoochee around 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14.
“It is fall which means Steeplechase marketing is in full force,” says Steeplechase Executive Director Kim Jinks. She added “our team loves working in Uptown Columbus and raising funds for arts organizations, several which also call Uptown home. We feel like we are a part of the fabric of this great community having given almost $3.5 million over the past thirty years. We also like playing in Uptown and are taking the zip line challenge to show our support of the Arts and Steeplechase.”
The Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens is an athletic sporting event held annually on the first Saturday of November. Patrons have the opportunity to watch the nation’s top thoroughbred horses compete while they picnic with family and friends. Always a fundraiser for the Arts, proceeds are donated to the Columbus Museum, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Historic Columbus Foundation, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, Springer Opera House and the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation.
