Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Wednesday, September 30th, 2015
United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley’s Stuff the Bus program in conjunction with local Publix stores, distributed close to 2,000 cases of school supplies today to select Title 1 schools in Muscogee, Russell, Harris, Talbot and Taylor counties, as well as, to United Way partner agencies that have youth programs.
For the past month, local Publix stores asked customers if they’d like to contribute to their in-store campaign to provide school supplies to area kids in need. Those donations provided the supplies that were distributed at the Bradley Park Drive Publix this morning. Publix store managers and United Way staff were on hand to help load supplies on vans and trucks. Ten youth programs at nine United Way partner agencies and 29 schools received supplies.
"Publix is an amazing community partner! Their employees are loyal and faithful to United Way’s mission. Their compassion to our partner agencies help kids in need succeed," said Scott Ferguson, CEO of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley. " And for the customers who gave. We thank each and every one. Together we can build our community."
