A collaboration between the City of Columbus, United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley and Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, resulted in the creation of a Born Learning Trail at Charlie Hill Park in Beallwood.  The trail, which was dedicated today, consists of a series of 10 signs accompanied by four concrete pads providing activities that can be done with small children in the park.  The activities help prepare young children for school.  Since 2008, United Way has installed 10 trails in Columbus and one in Phenix City, AL.

Born Learning is a public engagement initiative of United Way that helps parents, grandparents and caregivers explore ways to turn everyday moments into fun learning opportunities.  Children are constantly learning, right from birth. Their early years are the foundation for growth and development, and what they learn during those years lays the foundation for the experiences they have in the future.
