The Continuing Education Department at Columbus State University, in partnership with Littler, the largest global employment and labor law practice, presents a must-attend professional development opportunity for employers: “Changes Are Coming: Are You Prepared? Guidance for Navigating DOL’s Proposed Changes to White Collar Regulations.” The session will be held on November 4, 2015, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., at the Columbus State University Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center for Continuing Education.

On June 30, 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, proposed sweeping changes to the regulations that govern the white collar overtime exemptions. This program, will provide detailed guidance and practical steps on how employers can be prepared for, and respond to, these proposed changes. Discussion topics include: The substantive changes in the exemption standards proposed by the DOL; how these changes will affect exempt employee classifications; and practical considerations for addressing anticipated changes.

“Now is the time to get ahead of this timely and impactful issue,” said Susan Wirt, executive director of the CSU Continuing Education Department. “The changes are coming fast, and our goal is to prepare employers around the region well in advance.”

The session will be led by Lisa “Lee” Schreter, a shareholder in Littler’s Atlanta office. Lee is chairperson of the Littler Board of Directors and co-chair of the Wage and Hour Practice Group. Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked in human resources where she gained extensive experience in wage and hour issues.

“This session offers incredible ROI to each attendee,” continued Wirt. “To properly educate employers by meeting with a private attorney would be cost prohibitive; we’re offering employers the chance to learn, from a national expert, everything employers need to know for a fraction of the cost.”
