Chattahoochee Valley Community College Associate Degree Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing graduates from 2015 have earned 100 percent pass rates for both national licensure exams, NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN respectively.

Mark Ellard, CVCC interim president, said, “This is an incredible achievement for both programs and our faculty and staff are to be commended.”

While the LPN program has maintained a 100 percent pass rate for the past three years, this is the first time in several years that the ADN program has achieved a 100 percent pass rate.

Resa Lord, chairperson for health sciences at CVCC, credited the faculty and admission process for the positive results. Lord said, “There are more stringent admission criteria for acceptance into both programs. Our faculty is using innovative teaching strategies in addition to a concept-based curriculum.”

Lord also detailed that the curriculum for both programs contains built-in NCLEX review measures. The programs also include preceptorship hours above the state requirements.

Lord also explained, “Our faculty give individualized tutoring outside of class to help aid students prepare for the exams. We also do test reviews after exams to ensure student success.”

The 100 percent pass rates are not only a testament to the quality of the students and teaching at CVCC, the pass rates help maintain accreditation status with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Lord added, “This achievement helps establish us as a respectable program within the community. It provides our graduates with improved job opportunities.”
