Miss America Homecoming November 13th

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Monday, October 19th, 2015

Columbus has been the home of Miss Georgia since 1945 and the Miss Georgia Organization is proud that Georgia’s own Betty Cantrell was named Miss America 2016.  It’s been sixty-three years since Neva Jane Langley was named Georgia’s first Miss America in 1953.

Founded in 1921, the Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading advocates for women’s education and is the largest provider of education scholarship to young women in the United States.  The Miss America Organization provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills within them a spirit of community service through a variety of nationwide community-based programs.  Being named Miss America is just the beginning of a journey that will take Miss Cantrell to every corner of the nation during her year of service as Miss America.

The public is invited to welcome Betty Cantrell home, where she was crowned Miss Georgia, on Friday, November 13th at the National Infantry Museum for the “Miss America’s Homecoming Celebration”.  The public may purchase reservations by going to missga.org.

The reception and cocktails will be at 6:00 pm and the “Miss America Celebration Dinner and Miss America Top 10 Show” will be at 7:00 pm. Betty Cantrell, Miss America 2016, will be honored and she and the Miss America Top Ten Finalists will entertain.
