Columbus Technical College is proud to welcome the newest member of its local board of directors, Chattahoochee School Superintendent David McCurry. McCurry comes to this vital advisory group with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of education. He has served in virtually every capacity in secondary education from a classroom teacher to assistant principal to principal to his current role as superintendent.
During a recent leadership conference in Atlanta sponsored by the Technical College System of Georgia, David McCurry joined his fellow local board members in numerous events and workshops including the work required to become a certified board member.
Columbus Technical College President Lorette Hoover had this to say about McCurry jumping right in and embracing this new endeavor.
“Because of David’s willingness to participate in the certification process, Columbus Technical College’s Local Board of Directors was again recognized for 100% board certification at the conference,” Hoover said. “It was a real honor to receive this recognition and know we are continuing a tradition that has been set by this fine institution. From his first meeting on campus, David McCurry has been an energetic and enthusiastic addition to our team.”
Columbus Technical College already has a strong partnership with Chattahoochee County Schools. Programs in place include: a Career Connection pilot program for ninth graders, adult education services, and Move on When Ready that provides college level courses to high school students.
The Columbus Technical College Local Board of Directors are: David McCurry (Chattahoochee and Stewart), Hon. Ben Richardson (Muscogee), John Pritchett (Quitman), Velma Bright (Muscogee), Hon. Jim Trott (Harris), Joe “Slade” Johnson (Talbot) and David Fox (Muscogee).
