Columbus Technical College will be hosting a series of fun technology-based events for students, faculty, and staff November 10 – 12. It’s called “CLICK Re-Boot Week” and the goal is to re-energize and re-familiarize everyone with the College’s Quality Enhancement Plan called CLICK. CLICK stands for Computer Literacy Is Critical Knowledge.

We hope you’ll be able to join us for some of our CLICK events – especially the technology showcase and grand opening of our Computer Success Lab on Tuesday, November 10^th in Carl Patrick Hall. This lab will showcase the latest in computer technology including virtual 3D learning devices with special glasses and hands-on access, Smart Boards, and more. The Computer Success Support Lab will be manned with a tutor certified in this field.

“The technology Columbus Technical College has secured for its students is second-to-none,” said Dean of Academic Support Will Burgan. “For instance, we now have a virtual system with 3D glasses that can display anything from a heart and its chambers to a car engine and all of its moving parts. The students will see the model and be able to actually pull it apart and label the pieces and then put it back together – all through virtual reality. This kind of training married to technology will help our students visually understand the processes they are learning and, in turn, they will be able to better apply that knowledge when they are in their chosen field.

Tues., Nov. 10 @ 11AM – 12:30PM Technology Showcase in McCaulley Auditorium (P100) in Patrick Hall

Tues., Nov. 10 @ 12:30PM – Grand Opening of the Computer Success Support Lab in P132

Tues., Nov. 10 @ 5:30PM – “Smash Brothers” Video Game Competition in room 714 of the library

Wed., Nov. 11 @9AM – 5PM – Technology “Scavenger Hunt” for students with prize drawings every hour (various locations)

Wed., Nov. 11 @ 5:30PM – Pizza and movie – Students’ choice- “Jurassic World” in room 600 of the library

Thurs., Nov. 12 @11AM – 2PM – Technology Snack bar in rooms 718& 719 of the library. Showcasing portable hi-tech systems

GRAND FINALE- Thurs., Nov. 12 @ 5:30 PM – Popcorn, Pizza, and PJ’s – Family Movie Night with the Minions in room 714 of the library
