Georgia House Backs Exemption on Super Bowl Ticket Sales Tax
Monday, February 29th, 2016
The Georgia House has approved a bill eliminating $10 million in state sales taxes on Super Bowl tickets if the National Football League selects Atlanta as a host for its premiere event.
House members voted 127-22 for the measure, which is backed by Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. The bill gives the same exemption on tickets to other sporting events expected to generate at least $50 million in other revenue, including all-star games for professional baseball, soccer and basketball.
