Home for Good: The Alliance to End Homelessness, a program of United Way won the 2015 – 2016 Georgia County Excellence Award Program Honoring County Health Initiatives.  This project was chosen by a selection of committees composed of public and private healthcare industry professionals for its innovative approach to community health.

ACCG, in partnership with Georgia Trend magazine, will host the Georgia County Excellence Awards program. ACCG and Georgia Trend, the state’s leading business publication, are partnering to honor counties that have taken innovative and cost-effective approaches to solving local issues. The Georgia County Excellence Awards recognizes county commissioners, staff, and community partners for their efforts to make positive impacts on their communities.

This year’s program will honor those that are striving to improve their communities through various health initiatives. The theme of the 2015-2016 Georgia County Excellence Awards is community health.  This year’s awards will honor county programs involving county wellness programs, county health care center initiatives, jail diversion programs, and community collaboration to address health issues.

“Home for Good is honored to be an award recipient, we feel privileged to receive this special community recognition,” said Pat Frey, Executive Director of Home for Good.   We are grateful for all of our community resource providers that support the alliance to end homelessness.  Frey further stated, “The support from Mayor Tomlinson has ensured our caliber of success.”

Georgia Trend announced the winning counties in the March 2016 magazine issue http://www.georgiatrend.com/March-2016/In-Good-Shape/.  A formal recognition will be presented at the 2016 ACCG Annual Conference in Savannah/Chatham County in late April.  In addition, this acknowledgement will be featured in a special supplement to the summer issue of the ACCG Georgia County Government magazine.
