Easter Events Announced at Callaway
Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Friday, March 25th, 2016
Enjoy Easter weekend with your family this year at Callaway Gardens during the weekend of March 26-27, 2016. As in years past, Callaway Gardens has family-friendly activities planned for the whole weekend.
Family Activities
The day will begin with what appears to be a giant, colored Easter egg floating in the sky … but it’s actually a Tethered Hot Air Balloon ride. For a small fee, guests can experience the gentle feeling of floating in a hot air balloon. Saturday and Sunday tethered rides* will be available 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and cost $10 per person.
A new Bunny Hop Children’s Fun Run will be open to all children that would like to participate at 11 a.m. on Saturday. It will be followed by The Great Bunny Chase 5Kat 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration for the 5K is available at www.active.com or onsite prior to the event.
The Easter Bunny will visit from Noon to 5 p.m. with whom boys and girls can have their Easter photo taken and enjoy the festivities.
All ages are invited to participate in the Easter Egg Hunts on Saturday, March 26, at Robin Lake Beach. Guests of all ages should bring an Easter basket and set out to find thousands of candy eggs, along with some very special prize eggs. The hunt for Toddlers to 3-year-olds will start at 2 p.m. All other age groups will hunt simultaneously in dedicated areas at 2:30 p.m. Egg hunts are free with admission to Callaway Gardens.
After the egg hunts, Missing Peace will entertain guests with featured lead singer 14-year-old Marty Joe Barnes.
Sunday Sunrise Service
The annual Easter Sunrise Service will be Sunday, March 27, at 7 a.m. on the ski pavilion on the west-side of Robin Lake Beach. Marc Pritchett of R.U.S.H. Ministries and Mountain View Baptist Church of Thomaston, Ga., will deliver the Easter Sunday message. The natural beauty of Callaway Gardens during the early morning hours serves as a magnificent backdrop to this service and beautiful music. Admission is free prior to 8 a.m. Guests should enter through the original Gardens gate on U. S. Hwy. 27.
Enjoy These Options for Easter Brunch
After the Sunrise Service, guests can enjoy one of Callaway Gardens’ popular Easter Brunches for dozens of delicious selections. The Callaway Gardens culinary team will have something to please every palate with choices from cola roasted pit ham with “red eye” ham jus and Cajun spiced mahi mahi to roasted chicken with spring onions and smoked bacon as well as a variety of other delectable brunch items. Guests may indulge themselves with desserts featuring peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, New York Cheesecake, and more.
