Physicians Working Together (PWT) is excited to be joined by Medelita, The Crawford Long Museum, and other national and local organizations to celebrate National Physicians Week, March 25 thru 31, in appreciation of the physicians who commit their lives to providing the best medical care to their patients. The theme for the week of recognition is, “We devote our lives, to saving yours.”
“As our inaugural event, National Physicians Week is needed to show the hard work, many years of education, sacrifices, and selfless service doctors provide is appreciated,” said Dr. Kim Funches Jackson M.D., Founder of Physicians Working Together. “We want to let physicians know they are not alone, and our organization serves as a support and advocacy group to provide a voice to the needs and concerns of physicians that are either not being heard or positively addressed.” Dr. Jackson specializes in Family Medicine in Alabama and Georgia.
Added Dr. Tracei D. Ball, M.D., and PWT member, “I believe National Physicians Week is an opportunity for us to reclaim our value in the public eye. The quality of healthcare has been negatively impacted by various factors, so this week is our chance to promote the numerous positive stories that celebrate the dedicated lifesaving impact of physicians.” Dr. Ball specializes in internal medicine, pediatrics, and addiction medicine in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In recognition of this celebration, Physicians Working Together created a special video tribute IWish.mp4 that they are asking all to view and share, as well as established a website to provide additional information. The week of celebration will include posts and clips of doctors and others expressing their excitement and dedication to the healthcare profession as well thanking those special physicians in their lives via various social media channels, under the hashtags #Nationalphysiciansweek and #Thanksdoc. Those on Facebook are requested to change their profile picture to the National Physician Week logo to show their support, and like the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nationalphysiciansweek/. On this page you will more information and ways to support this wonderful cause and support physicians. On Thursday, March 30 (traditionally observed as Doctors Day), the group is encouraging people to give red carnations to their physicians, and for family and loved ones to give red carnations to those special physicians in their lives.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. Marion Mass, Dr. Hala Sabry-Elnaggar of PMG (www.mypmg.com), Dr. Antonio Funches, Dr. Jason Hoover, Dr. Tania Edwards and Dr. Bonnie Mason of BTER (www.beyondtheexamroom.com) and logo graphic designer Don Sharp ([email protected]) for their support and efforts in making National Physicians Week a reality.
