Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Thursday, April 28th, 2016
Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Inc. will honor two teens from the Columbus area for earning the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award at a formal ceremony at 3 p.m. on May 1 at the Columbus Public Library. Younger Girl Scouts who have earned the Silver or Bronze Award and volunteers who have earned council level awards will also be honored at the ceremony.
The Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout can earn. It recognizes the work of Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, 9th – 12th graders, who have made outstanding accomplishments in the areas of leadership, community service, and personal development. Each girl working toward the Girl Scout Gold Award spends a minimum of 80 hours planning and implementing a leadership project that puts the Girl Scout Promise and Law into action and makes a positive and lasting impact on her community. The council awarded 36 Gold Awards this year council-wide.
