The National Technology Security Coalition announced Tim Callahan, Global Chief Security Officer for Aflac, has been appointed to serve as the inaugural Chairman for the NTSC Board of Directors.

TAG’s new national trade association, the National Technology Security Coalition is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that will drive the national dialogue on technology security in the United States. The mission of NTSC is to effectively forge a coalition of information security stakeholders to help reverse the accelerating pace of disruption to our nation’s information systems.

NTSC will drive the national dialogue in a number of different ways, including: promoting policies and regulations with respect to technology security, conducting educational thought-exchange forums, and delivering professional development programs to equip members with innovative cybersecurity solutions.

“We are fortunate to have world renowned information security executive, Tim Callahan to chair the NTSC Board of Directors,” stated Tino Mantella, NTSC/TAG President and CEO.  “With his leadership and expertise, I am confident that NTSC will drive the national dialogue around technology security.”

Callahan is a veteran information security executive with a successful track record of implementing innovative security strategies to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected at several leading companies. As Global CISO of Aflac, the largest provider of supplemental insurance in the U.S., Tim is responsible for the protection and availability of the information assets for 9,500 employees and more than 70,000 independent sales agents in the U.S. and Japan. Prior to this role at Aflac, Callahan served in executive information security & risk management positions at SunTrust and People’s United Bank.

In addition to Callahan,  NTSC’s formation board includes CISOs from leading companies and government authorities, including Pete Chronis, CISO for Turner Broadcasting, Kevin Gowen, CISO for Synovus and Calvin Rhodes, CIO for the State of Georgia.  The NTSC Board of Directors first meeting will be held in June.
