Columbus State University’s most widely distributed publication earned a modish 21st-century makeover this spring.
Formerly named Focus, the alumni magazine rolled out a new design, logo and name.
Its new moniker: Columbus State, The Magazine of Columbus State University for Alumni & Friends.
“My goal was to create a modern print-to-digital publication that continues to strengthen our connection to both print and digital-savvy CSU alumni,” said Columbus State editor Candace Morrow. “Digital media is transforming constantly, so our creative team gave the traditional magazine a 21st-century, responsive facelift. Now, alumni can interact with original, thought-provoking content, photography and videos in digitally advanced ways.”
Reaching nearly 32,000 alumni, the semiannual print version showcases the university’s new masthead, tagline and graphic design elements to complement its graduates’ inspiring stories home and abroad.
Online, Columbus State allows alumni to interact with its cutting-edge, social media-compatible design developed by CSU’s Web Services team. The print content comes to life with more storytelling visuals and videos.
“We have been working for months to create a publication that keeps the rich content from what was previously named Focus but adds a contemporary design,” said CSU President Chris Markwood. “The newly designed Columbus State includes a wider variety of easy-to-digest alumni fun facts, announcements, news and feature stories. The design also reflects the energy and vibrancy we see every day on campus.”
