Members of the Silver Wings Parachute Demonstration Team, from Fort Benning, Ga., will jump into St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School’s Deimel Field on Monday, May 9, 2016, at approximately 1 p.m. The jump is part of a celebration to mark 180 million words read by Pre-K through 8th grade students throughout the 2015-2016 school year.
The Silver Wings’ mission is to perform live aerial demonstrations in support of the US Army, and Fort Benning public relations and recruiting.
Approximately 20 percent of St. Anne-Pacelli students are the children of active duty military parents. The families represent all military ranks, and live both on- and off-post in Muscogee and Harris Counties, Ga., or Phenix City, Ala. Another 5 percent of St. Anne-Pacelli students have a retired military parent.
Through Accelerated Reader, a progress monitoring software, St. Anne-Pacelli is able to track students’ achievements in reading.
