Funding the Fight Against Hunger

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Thursday, August 18th, 2016

St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic High School National Art Honor Society students and Art Teacher Mrs. Allison Wilbanks presented a check for $2,200 – money raised at the school’s annual Empty Bowl Luncheon & Day of the Arts in March – to St. Anne Community Outreach on August 16, 2016. The primary mission of St. Anne Community Outreach, a ministry of St. Anne Catholic Church, is to provide food and clothing to Muscogee County residents in need. Because St. Anne Community Outreach partners with Feeding the Valley, the center can provide 3.5 meals for just $1. Thus, the $2,200 raised at the Empty Bowl Luncheon & Day of the Arts will help provide 7,700 meals to hungry people in the Columbus, Ga. community!

During the Empty Bowl Luncheon & Day of the Arts, each patron selected a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted ceramic bowl – lovingly made by St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School students and friends – and received a modest yet delicious meal of soup, bread and dessert for a suggested donation of $10-$15. Special thanks, again, to the following 2016 Empty Bowl Luncheon & Day of the Arts sponsors: Ben’s Chophouse; Caffe Amici; Columbus Foot & Ankle; CMJ Marian Publishers & Distributors; Country’s BBQ; Hazel’s Flowers; Macon Road Bar-B-Que; National Art Honor Society; Signs Unlimited; Speakeasy; St. Anne Catholic Church; and TSYS.
