TSYS Awards Scholarships through the University System of Georgia

Staff Report From Columbus CEO

TSYS announced that in conjunction with the University System of Georgia, it will provide $26,000 in scholarships to be awarded to students at Columbus State University and Kennesaw State University.

The presidents of the respective universities will have control of the disbursement of the scholarship funds their institution receives from TSYS. This affords them the opportunity to award a few large, or multiple smaller need-based scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year — helping those students who most need and deserve these scholarships.

“As a company that was founded in Georgia more than 30 years ago, it is important for us to give back to our local universities to ensure the continued success of some of the brightest students in the state,” said M. Troy Woods, chairman and chief executive officer, TSYS. “With our headquarters in Columbus, and offices in Kennesaw, we felt that these two universities were a natural fit for TSYS to support.”

“With more than 318,000 students across 29 institutions, the University System of Georgia is committed to educating more Georgians, and helping those students who otherwise could not attend college due to financial hardship,” said Hank Huckaby, chancellor of the University System of Georgia. “Thanks to the generous support of sponsors like TSYS, the University System of Georgia Foundation is able to supplement those students and have a significant impact on college graduation rates and add to the economic vitality of our state.”
