Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Friday, December 2nd, 2016
The 12th Annual Deimel Legacy Ball will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, beginning at 6 p.m. at RiverMill Event Centre in Columbus, Ga. The black tie optional event will be hosted by Diocese of Savannah Bishop Most Reverend Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv.
The Deimel Legacy Ball is named for Monsignor Herman J. Deimel, who was committed to the growth of the Catholic community in the Columbus area. He served as pastor of Holy Family Church from 1943 until 1961 and St. Anne Catholic Church from 1961 until 1966. During his 23 years in Columbus, he was instrumental in the establishment of St. Francis Hospital, which opened in 1950, the new Holy Family School, which opened in 1952, and Pacelli High School, which was built in 1958 (Pacelli was originally called Holy Family High School, but was renamed Pacelli in 1958 in memory of the late Pope Pius XII, who died that year).
Proceeds from the Deimel Legacy Ball support tuition assistance at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School. The evening will feature cocktails, dinner, and dancing. For information about event sponsorships, email Tom Lynch at [email protected]. Event reservations, which can be made online at www.stannecsg.com/Deimel-Ball, are $75 per person until December 15, 2016 and $100 per person after that date.
The Deimel Legacy Ball is organized by the Columbus Deanery of the Diocese of Savannah, which includes the following parishes: Christ the King; Holy Family; Our Lady of Lourdes; St. Anne Church; and St. Benedict the Moor.
