Business Owners: Enter Georgia Power’s Light Up the Holidays Contest
Friday, December 16th, 2016
Got the best and brightest commercial light display in the Peach State? Georgia Power wants to see it, recognize the decorations of the top firms, and even give several businesses a chance to earn Visa gift cards during the first-ever, Light Up the Holidays contest.
All Georgia business enterprises are invited to showcase their holiday light displays and try to win this photo contest.
Most likely, the difficult part of the promotion for entrants has been completed, that is, they’ve created a unique lighting show and complementary decorations. Entering the contest is the easy part: simply posting a picture of the company’s building, store or office on Facebook or Twitter by January 8th.
Georgia Power welcomes business owners throughout the state to visit its Facebook page to upload a photo to the #GeorgiaPowerLights app, and to then tell their customers, friends and family to visit the app and vote for their picture.
Twitter users need to follow @GeorgiaPower and Tweet their photo using the hash tag #GeorgiaPowerLights. Again, participants should encourage everyone they know to “Like” their Tweet.
Companies must remember to use “#GeorgiaPowerLights” in the posting text for Twitter and to the entry platform on Facebook.
Winners will be measured by the number of “Likes” or “Votes” their post containing the photo obtains during the promotion period.
Each week throughout the contest, Georgia Power will randomly select one winner from all entries received that week to receive a $50 gift card. The week of January 16, the company will announce a Grand Prize business winner, as well as four Runners Up, based solely on the total number of likes or votes received for the photo during the contest period.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 gift card and a commemorative plaque, as well as be featured on GeorgiaPower.com. Two Runners Up businesses will also be selected, with each receiving a $250 gift card. All prizes will be Visa gift cards.
The “Light Up the Holidays” promotion is open to all business entities, including sole proprietorships and other unincorporated businesses. Each eligible tweet or post (or “Entry”) submitted during the promotion period will count as one entry. Participants are allowed to create as many entries as desired during the contest period, but will only be eligible to win once during the weekly random drawings, and for one of the final prizes.
Note that all Entries must be original work, created by the owner; they must not have been previously published, released or distributed in any form; and must not have been entered into any other drawing or competition, nor have won any other award. Full contest rules are available at www.GeorgiaPower.com/HolidayRules.
Throughout the holiday season, Georgia Power reminds customers that focusing on energy efficiency can help them save money and energy even as they celebrate. Simple tips for the holidays include switching to energy efficient LED decorations, which use more than 50 percent less energy than traditional decoration, and putting decorations on a timer to ensure they’re only on when people are home, or awake, to enjoy them.
