For the fifth consecutive year, Columbus State University has been designated as a Military Friendly School.

The designation comes from Victory Media, publisher of “G.I. Jobs,” “STEM Jobs” and “Military Spouse,” based on a school’s ability to embrace military students and dedicate resources to ensure their success both in the classroom and after graduation.

“Columbus State University is proud to be recognized as a military friendly school and places a high priority on serving our military affiliated students,” said Susan Lovell, director of military enrollment at CSU. “A key component of that priority is helping them in their transition out of the military and into college. Aside from helping with this transition, we also want to engage with our military-affiliated students, with events including our Military Appreciation Week celebration.”

Some examples of how CSU is serving the military include:

·  Fee reductions for all active duty soldiers

·  Two full-time enrollment counselors at Fort Benning in the Army Continuing Education System (ACES) Education Center (Soldier For Life Center)

·  Six classes on post this semester and seven courses planned on post for next semester (and the possibility of a two-year Criminal Justice degree on post in the future)

·  An ROTC program that is actively engaged with two briefings monthly on the Green-to-Gold program at Ft. Benning

·  A longstanding partnership with the Maneuver Captains Career Course to offer graduate degrees, including a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Master of Public Administration

·  A new Military Service Center on CSU’s main campus to better serve soldiers/veterans and their dependents who are enrolled (the center offers a lounge and computer lab with six computers)

·  Three full-time staff and three student veterans who are able to assist students with veteran education benefits and enrollment information on main campus

·  The Student Veteran Association, which has more than 20 active members this semester
