Strategic HR Partners Employers Association announced that their Employment Law Series for 2017 presented by their Partner Fisher Fillips will begin with the first session on April 21st 2017. The change in administrations has, and is causing major changes to Employment and Labor Laws being initiated at “Warp Speed”. This Series is focused on what Business Owners, Managers, Supervisors, and Human Resource Professionals that need to know how to effectively run their companies. All sessions will be held at The Cunningham Center at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.
Sessions are held from 9:00am. - 12:00pm.
April 21st will focus on an update on changes in Immigration Law by Cynthia Yarbrough. Attorney with expertise in Immigration Law.
Workplace Violence Prevention Ed Foulke Attorney and past Head of OSHA, recognized expert in Safety, Health & Environmental Law.
June 16th will focus on Changes in Employment Law with the New Administration. Joe Shelton Attorney with expertise in this area will cover what businesses can expect to see in 2017.
Changes in the Fair Labor Standards Act: How to avoid Wage and Hour
Violations, Penalties and Lawsuits will be presented by Matt Simpson a recognized expert in this area of the Department of Labor’s Wage & Hour Law.
September 15th Termination to Trial: Participants will follow the story,
Myra Creighton vs, GEAR Enterprises LLC.
Joe Shelton Attorney, will lead a highly interactive session where a terminated employee filed charges for wrongful discharge against Gear Enterprises LLC.
This session exposes the potential liability that companies are exposed to through the actions of all of their supervisors and managers. This includes a mock trial via a series of video vignettes to determine what really happened and how GEAR Enterprises LLC. May have avoided this lawsuit.
