Tuesday, February 21st, 2017

The Chattahoochee Valley Camellia Society's 7th Annual Camellia Show is 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 4 and 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 5 at The Columbus Museum, 1251 Wynnton Road. The show, sanctioned by the American Camellia Society, will have more than 20 judges, led by well-known Atlanta Camellia enthusiast, John Newsome. There will be many categories for growers of all levels, including novice, and many cash awards. County Line Nurseries from Byron, Georgia, will be selling Camellias on Saturday during the Show at the Museum.

The Camellia Show is open to the public free of charge and spectators as well as exhibitors are welcome. You do not need to be a Camellia Society member to enter blooms or to attend. In addition to viewing the breathtaking blooms entered in the Show, you may take advantage of the many exciting exhibitions on view at the Columbus Museum and take a tour of the lovely Bradley Olmsted Garden. The 2016 Show brought over 1,500 patrons and more than 1,200 gorgeous blooms from professional and novice camellia growers across the Southeast. Exhibitors come from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina.

According to Sam Wellborn, President of the CVCS, all blooms may be brought to the Columbus Museum between 7-10am on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Those entering the Show for the first time should arrive at the Columbus Museum loading dock no later than 9am, so that you have plenty of time to enter your beauties before judging begins. Camellia Society members will be available to help.

For more information about the Show contact Cameron Bean 404-805-6785 or Mary Elsie Martin 706-323-0069.

The Show will also feature blooms from the Sam M. Wellborn Camellia Garden located at the Columbus Botanical Garden. The Camellia Garden was planned and planting began in 2012 and now includes over 500 camellia varieties. The Garden was most recently added to the American Camellia Trail, a project of the American Camellia Society devoted to promoting camellias and significant collections of camellias.
