‘College Goal Georgia’ Event Helps Students Pay for College
Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Tuesday, February 14th, 2017
An important event is being held at Columbus Technical College on Saturday, February 25. From 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Experts from the College’s financial aid office will be on hand to assist current and future students with filling out the required Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The event will take place in Carl Patrick Hall at the main campus on Manchester Expressway.
Filling out the FAFSA is the first critical step in paying for college. This is required in order for students to apply for federal and state grants, loans, and/or scholarships.
Beginning this year, college students will report income and tax information from an earlier tax year. For the 2017-2018 FAFSA, students and their parents, if applicable, will report their 2015 income and tax information rather than waiting for their 2016 forms to be filed. Research shows that when a student completes the FAFSA, he or she is more likely to enroll in college. In addition, by 2025, an estimated 60 percent of all jobs in Georgia will require some type of postsecondary credential.
College Goal Georgia/FAFSA Completion is sponsored by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. It is a FREE event complete with refreshments and goody bags!
