Much Ado About Nothing Coming to RiverCenter March 9th
Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Thursday, February 16th, 2017
RiverCenter presents Aquila Theatre’s Much Ado About Nothing March 9th at 7:30PM! This production is hailed by The New York Times as “Outstanding . . . gleefully engaging . . . and directed with inspiration.”
Much Ado About Nothing is generally considered one of Shakespeare's best comedies because it combines elements of mistaken identities, love, and robust hilarity with more serious meditations on honor, shame, and politics. The amusing battle of the sexes is also a relatable and topical theme throughout.
Performed at RiverCenter by Aquila Theatre, audiences will be engaged and entertained. Aquila is one of the foremost producers of touring classical theater in the United States with an international reach, visiting 50 - 60 American cities per year and traveling abroad with plays, workshops and educational programming. They have performed at the White House and have received a Chairman's Special Award from the National Endowment for the Humanities for innovative applied theater programming.
“Much Ado About Nothing is wonderfully intricate, flush with surprising twists and turns, and articulated in expert language. This will certainly provide a rich cultural experience for all audiences,” remarked Executive Director, Norman Easterbrook.
RiverCenter will present Much Ado About Nothing as part of its Synovus Center Stage Series. The public performance will take place March 9 at 7:30PM, and a school-day matinee will be available for students on March 8 at 10AM.
