Aflac, the leader in voluntary insurance sales at the worksite in the United States, announced that the company has been named to the Top 40 Innovative Technology Companies in Georgia by the Technology Association of Georgia, the state's leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia's technology industry. The insurer was selected for its innovative One Day Pay initiative, which allows Aflac to receive, process, approve and disburse payment for eligible claims in one business day.

"Aflac was founded on the principles of ethics, care and fairness," Aflac Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Julia Davis said. "When illnesses and injuries occur, One Day Pay, as an extension of these principles, allows Aflac to pay eligible claims fast so the focus can be on recovery, not on bills."

The Top 40 Awards recognize Georgia-based technology companies for their innovation, financial impact and their efforts at spreading awareness of Georgia's technology initiatives throughout the U.S. and globally, according to TAG. This year's Top 40 Companies were selected from more than 110 applications submitted by companies from across Georgia.

From start to finish, the technology enhancements of One Day Pay made Aflac the first company in the industry to process and pay claims in one day. In 2016, the company did not miss their One Day Pay commitment for any of the 96 percent of claims that met the One Day Pay criteria. Aflac's customers have said they're more satisfied when they use One Day Pay, with 95 percent of policyholders who have used Aflac SmartClaim, Aflac's online claims submission tool used with One Day Pay, indicating they are likely to recommend Aflac and its products to other people.
