The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Foundation raised just over $57,000 for scholarships from the annual Hall of Fame celebration and fundraising event, making it the most successful event in the history of the Foundation. The Hall of Fame event, which recognizes individuals for outstanding service and accomplishments, was held at the National Infantry Museum on March 9.  The Hall of Fame has brought in over $200,000 to benefit student scholarships since 2014.
 
“Hall of Fame was a special evening, as we recognized two outstanding individuals:  the late Cynthia Wiggins Floyd and Crystal W. Trawick.” said Susan Wiggins, chair for the CVCC Foundation and VP of Stakeholders, W.C. Bradley Co.
 
Wiggins continued “The success of our event is attributed to a dedicated group of individuals that serve on the CVCC Foundation board and the wonderful support from our sponsors and the community.” Between the large turnout of over 200 guests, and the support of over 49 corporate and individual sponsors, the community has made it clear that CVCC is the community’s college.
 
“We are excited to continue and grow the momentum from the 40th anniversary event three years ago.” said Mark Ellard, interim president at Chattahoochee Valley Community College. The Hall of Fame is a way to bring together the stories of the past, the stories of the present, and build opportunities for stories of the future.
 
For over 44 years, CVCC has been the Chattahoochee Valley area residents’ open-access college. Students from all walks of life attend CVCC becoming nurses, teachers, public safety officers, managers, media, elected leaders and other professionals making a difference in the community.
 
The CVCC Foundation awards scholarships on a semester basis to deserving CVCC students to assist with tuition and/ or books.
