Staff Report From Columbus CEO

Thursday, May 4th, 2017

The Valley’s most delightful concert series returns to the Columbus Public Library (3000 Macon Road) this May! Join us at 3:00pm on Fridays for TEA & MUSIC, the wonderful concoction of concert and lecture performed by the faculty, staff and students from the Schwob School of Music. Free hot tea and refreshments are provided by the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries. Bring your teacup!

These free programs, sponsored by the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries and the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries, will be held on Friday May 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th at 3:00pm.

Led by Dr. Kristen Hansen, Associate Professor in the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, the concerts combine historical and musical perspective given by Dr. Hansen with musical performances that have entertained Columbus audiences for the past ten years.

The concert series is named to honor the memory of longtime Library volunteer Margaret Carney. She was devoted to many library programs and helped establish the initial Tea & Music concerts.

This year’s concert series will include:

May 5, 3:00pm - Songs for Spring: Madrigals and other songs of the Renaissance and Tudor eras. Performed by the Columbus State University Baroque Consortium.
