Aflac Moves Up to No. 126 on 2017 Fortune 500

Aflac, the leader in voluntary insurance sales at the worksite in the United States, announced that the company has moved up nine spots on the 2017 list of Fortune 500 Companies. According to Fortune, Aflac is currently listed at No. 126, compared to No. 135 in 2016, with revenues of $22.5 billion and assets of nearly $130 billion at the end of 2016. This is the 23rd year that Aflac has held a coveted spot on the Fortune 500.
"We are delighted to be part of the Fortune 500 for a 23rd year and even more pleased that we have moved up nine places on this prestigious list of the biggest and best companies in the nation," Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos said. "We feel that this honor demonstrates the resiliency of our business model, which includes treating customers fairly, operating ethically, and rewarding our shareholders."
In addition to its placement on the Fortune 500, in 2017, Aflac, which employs more than 10,200 people in the United States and Japan, was once again named a Fortune Most Admired Company for the 16th time and a Fortune 100 Best Places to Work for the 19th consecutive year. In December 2016, Aflac was also named by Fortune as one of the 10 Best Workplaces for African Americans.
Since 1995, the company and its independent sales agents have contributed more than $115 million toward the treatment and research of children's cancer. Aflac is the proud sponsor of the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center in Atlanta, Georgia, a top-10 children's cancer facility in America, according the U.S. News & World Report.
