The Kiwanis Club of Columbus to Host Foundation Community Leadership Awards Today

The Kiwanis Club of Columbus Foundation Community Leadership Awards honor individuals and organizations doing extraordinary work to address the Columbus areas most pressing challenges concerning the safety of our youth.
 
During the meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Columbus will present Corporal Robert Greene, Columbus Police Department and current President of the Safe Kids Columbus Advisory Council along with several fellow officers, the 2018 Community Leadership Award.  Corporal Greene and his fellow officer’s exemplify excellence as public safety officers for the Columbus Police Department as well as strong child safety advocates working alongside Safe Kids Columbus.

Topic: College Students Form Coalition to Promote Extension of Interstate 14

●        Three college students formed the Youth Infrastructure Coalition to promote Interstate 14.

●        They have briefed pertinent government and civic individuals ranging from a U.S. Senator to Kiwanis Clubs.

●        Accomplishments include:

○        YIC organized as a nonprofit organization

○        Had resolutions of support passed in three communities in GA and AL

○        Commissioned a professional video to reach wider audience

○        Established a presence on social media sites

The YIC realizes that I-14, in many respects, will determine the future of these regions, and are involved out of a sense of civic duty.
