The Mall Bowling Center will host a 4-week Learn-to-bowl Clinic Saturdays in August, taught by a Silver Level Certified coach. Two hour clinics start at 10am and 1pm. The cost is $20 for adults, and $10 for children 8-17. All experience levels welcome. To register, call 706-682-7781.

We will celebrate the grand opening of MWR’s Milton E. Long Library at 10am Aug 14. This free event includes refreshments and great activities for the kids, with puppet and magic shows, balloon and face paint artists, a juggler, drum circle and a movie at noon. The library, which opened in its new location in June, is located at 6529 Eckel Avenue, Building 2783.
Uchee Creek will host a fishing tournament Aug 18, with payouts for winners. Boats are available for rent on site; active duty military will receive rental discounts. The Family Advocacy Program will host a motivational guest speaker, Aimee Copeland, from 1:30-2:30pm Aug 21 at Building 500 on Camp Rogers on Harmony Church. When Copeland was in college, she contracted a rare and deadly flesh-eating disease which resulted in her losing all her limbs. Copeland recently finished her second degree in social work and now serves as a mental health counselor for trauma victims. She created the Aimee Copeland Foundation which raises funds for a wellness park and holistic therapy center in Atlanta. Her story of resiliency is beautiful and inspiring. This free event is open to all Soldiers, civilians and family members. Guests will receive credit for required annual FAP, ASAP, and Suicide Prevention training.

Fort Benning’s annual Fall Flea Market is scheduled for 8am-2pm Sept 29 to coincide with the postwide yard sale. The flea market is held on Stilwell Field by the Post Office on Main Post. Admission is free, so expect thousands of shoppers from across the Chattahoochee Valley. Flea market booth space is available for as little as $15. Space is limited.
