Columbus State University’s is expanding offerings for its tuition-free Dual Enrollment Program as more teens discover the benefits of taking college courses while still in high school.
 
Dual Enrollment is a state-sponsored program that allows students at eligible high schools to take approved college-level coursework for credit toward both high school and college graduation requirements. Through the program, students routinely earn enough credits for an associate’s degree before finishing high school. There are no tuition costs for students accepted into the program.
 
At Columbus State University, students now have access to more than 100 different courses a year.
 
“We continue to look for ways to better serve students and parents interested in dual enrollment,” said Tina Butcher, CSU’s associate provost. “Many students come onto campus, but this fall we are also teaching several courses at Harris County High School, and at least one at St. Anne-Pacelli High School.”
 
The program has grown in recent years.

“Parents are often a driver for this when they understand how significant the cost-savings can be,” Butcher said. “There is still time for students to sign up for this program. They simply need contact the guidance counselor at their school to learn more.”
