Columbus State University to Host Fall Commencement Ceremonies

Columbus State University will honor 710 graduates at its fall 2018 commencement ceremonies this weekend. Graduates will be recognized according to their college with ceremonies being held at the following times:
· Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. – Graduate Hooding Ceremony
· Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. - College of Education and Health Professions
· Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. - College of Arts & Turner College of Business
· Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. - College of Letters and Sciences
The Graduate Hooding Ceremony, which is a new addition to CSU’s commencement ceremonies, will be held in University Hall. The three commencement ceremonies will be in the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center.
At the College of Arts and Turner College of Business ceremony on Saturday morning, Honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters will be presented to Cecil and Bettye Amos Cheves. Both originally from Columbus, the couple are generous supporters of CSU and very active within the Columbus community. Cecil, a retired lawyer, has served on the boards of many local organizations included Piedmont/Columbus Regional Healthcare, the National Infantry Museum, YMCA, House of Mercy, and Rotary Club. Bettye, who holds an art history degree from the University of Georgia, serves on the Board of Lockwood Partners Foundation. The couple are proud parents of three daughters and have 11 grandchildren.
