December 6, Santa pays a visit to Riverside, the home of Fort Benning’s commanding general, from 5:30-8:30pm. This free event includes prizes (Playstation, bikes, beanbag chairs, Power Wheels, V-Tech, and much more!) games, face painting, cookies and cocoa, and a chance for your children to meet Santa Claus, climb on his lap, and share their hopes and dreams for world peace, an end to hunger and a viable alternative energy source — or an iPad. Dress warmly and expect long lines. Riverside is at the intersection of Vibbert and Lumpkin.

December 7, Trees for Troops returns to Fort Benning! Active duty Soldiers (or their spouses) will receive one free live Christmas tree while supplies last, starting at 10:30am on Wetherby Field (past McGraw Village on the right as you travel east on Custer Road.) If the trees are unloaded early, we’ll distribute early. Only one tree per household, and you must show your military ID. There are no rank restrictions. We often have volunteers to help load trees, but we make no guarantees, so please come prepared to haul it off yourself.  If you’re strapping it to your vehicle, be sure to bring cord.
