Matt Rorer, a graduating senior majoring in communication at Columbus State University, has earned a scholarship to the GAB Radio Talent Institute at UGA this summer. The 10-day program will provide him with an opportunity to network with radio professionals and take classes in his industry.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting the other students. All of these students are going to be around my age and going into the same career as I am. It is always valuable to meet new people no matter where they are from,” said Rorer.
Rorer came to CSU from Spencer High School and has been active on campus in a variety of ways. He has served on CSU’s Orientation team and Team 58. He is also the productions director at CSU’s radio station and works part time for PMB Broadcasting.
“I feel like I formed into a person that I want to be by being here at CSU,” said Rorer. “It is kind of like a home for me.”
The GAB Radio Talent Institute brings in broadcast professionals from around the country to teach a select group of college students from across the region. Graduates of the Institute are highlighted to the industry as part of the Radio Talent Farm System, which connects broadcasters to entry level talent. This year’s institute runs from May 13 – 22.
