McDermott is currently the head softball program manager and head coach of the Columbus, Ga.-based fastpitch softball travel team The Lady Jay’s. From 2013 until 2018, he served as head softball coach at Calvary Christian School. During that time, McDermott led the program to back-to-back region championships in 2017 and 2018; the Knights also competed as a state semi-finalist in 2017 and a state finalist in 2018 under McDermott’s direction. “We are excited to add Coach McDermott to the Viking Athletics coaching staff,” said St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School Athletic Director Corry Black. “He brings a wealth of experience, and we look forward to him being a part of the re-birth of our Lady Vikings Softball program.”
“I am excited to be a part of the re-establishment of softball at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School,” said McDermott, a parishioner at St. Anne Church. “I love working with youth, and view this opportunity as a blessing.”
