CSU student Kate Scrivner recently was commissioned to paint a piece for the Governor incorporating the state bird (brown thrasher) and flower (Cherokee rose). Governor Brian Kemp and his wife Marty Kemp were given the gift of the painting and notecards with the same image as a gift from the city of Columbus.

“I was honored to have been thought of, when I was asked to complete this painting,” said Scrivner. “It’s really special that I’ll have a painting hung in the Governor’s Mansion, and I am glad that I was able to give him something unique and personal that would remind him of his time in Columbus.”

Scrivner is a product of the Muscogee County School System before attending CSU and is a junior majoring in Studio Arts with a focus on painting. The painting will be hung in the Governors mansion.
