Tuesday, August 20th, 2019
The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus (YOGC) kicks off its 26th season on Saturday, August 24th at Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music. The full day of sectional practices and orchestral rehearsals sets the tone for concert year and YOGC members are encouraged to invite a friend to
attend for the day. Weekly rehearsals begin August 26th, the Monday evening immediately following.
YOGC’s 26th season will include four concerts featuring two orchestras (Oct. 29, Jan. 7, Feb. 27, Apr. 28), chamber recital opportunities, participation in the Whitewater Orchestra Festival (Nov. 12), and an intensive workshop with special guest artists to be announced in the coming months. These performances will occur in various venues across the community, to include stages at the RiverCenter and Rainey-McCullars School of the Arts. Email [email protected] for more information.
“We are going to have an absolutely amazing season this year. We are bringing in an incredible group as a guest artist this year that we’ll announce shortly. You want to stay tuned for this! We continue to work with our amazing partners in the school district as well as multiple community organizations like the RiverCenter and the Schwob School of Music to connect our students with as many opportunities as possible. YOGC is able to do this because of the continuing support of our incredible board of directors and community members, so I hope that you will join us at our concerts to celebrate the talent, hard work, and dedication of our musicians.
