Columbus Technical College is celebrating the graduation of its first class of IET, or Integrated Education and Training, students.  While taking their high school equivalency classes, four Adult Education students also focused on industrial fundamentals through the IET program.  Those skills included Forklift Safety, CPR First Aid, and OSHA safety.  Students earned certifications in each of the disciplines over the intense three-week-long program.  Classes started September 9th and wrapped up on the 24th.  The course also incorporated adult education courses that focused on manufacturing concepts.

"This really puts them ahead of the game," said Vice President of Adult Education April Hopson.  "Our adult education program provides students with as many tools and opportunities as possible.  We are constantly reminding our students that education is something that can never be taken away from them and when there is an opportunity like IET, at no additional cost, its a smart move to give it a try and set yourself up for success."

Upon earning these certifications, Ramon Figueredo, Contrina Lowe, James Smartt, and Byrone Toney can seamlessly enter into Columbus Tech's Certified Production Technician Program. They all plan to start the CPT program in January of next year.

The next IET session starts in January and is open to any Columbus Tech Adult Education student.
