More people are graduating from Columbus Technical College, finding jobs in their chosen fields, and paving their way toward successful futures.  The latest data provided by the Technical College System of Georgia shows Columbus Tech is not only meeting all of its primary benchmarks but, in many cases, is far exceeding those goals.  One of the most valued ratings is the “in-field” job placement rate for academic year 2019.  Columbus Tech boasts a 100 percent job placement overall, and the rate for graduates finding a job in their chosen fields is 97.4 percent.  This is a significant increase over the previous year’s rate of 88.5 percent.

“Columbus Tech is here to provide an educated workforce to our community,” said Interim President Martha Ann Todd.  “To see these job placement numbers – especially the ‘in-field’ placement rate - means we are accomplishing our mission in a big way. Achieving this goal requires everyone at the college working together to meet the needs of our students and successfully fill the needs of our business and industry partners.”

Other benchmarks worth noting include the overall enrollment increase of nine percent this fall term compared to last year’s fall term.  As of today (October 1), the college has 3,507 students enrolled, and there will be more coming through the mini-mester registration which ends on October 7.  The fall dual enrollment participation, high school students earning college credit, has increased as well.  Not only is Columbus Tech seeing positive enrollment growth, but CTC students are finishing what they start.  In 2019, a total of 977 students walked across the stage at graduation to receive a technical certificate of credit, diploma, or degree.

The college adult education program is also outperforming its enrollment and completion targets.  Only three months into the reporting cycle for academic year 2019-2020, that department is boasting a current enrollment of 584 for an estimated 47 percent of its total annual goal.  To date, there are 18 CTC Adult Ed learning sites – including two at Fort Benning and a new location at the Poverty Reduction Lab in South Columbus.

“Our new South Columbus location at the Ashbury Methodist Church and the additional Fort Benning classes have been great additions, increasing our ability to reach the entire community,” said Vice President of Adult Education, April Hopson.  “Our goal is to reach anyone who needs or wants our services.”
