Columbus State University has joined the Georgia Climate Project (GCP), a statewide consortium working to improve understanding of climate impacts and solutions in Georgia.  CSU is the eighth Academic Partner to join the network, and the only one from the west central part of the state.
 
Sustainability is one of CSU's core values, and CSU’s diverse faculty is well-suited to advance a number of GCP initiatives, including a 40-question “climate research roadmap”. In particular, CSU will work at the intersection of climate, climate change, and K-12 education in addition to more physical science-based research areas, such as observations of the climate system and evidence of a changing climate.
 
Dr. Scott Gunter, Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Science in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences leads CSU’s participation in this new initiative.

It will not only add to CSU’s efforts to develop a more sustainable university and community, but it will also open doors for our students to participate in research and discussions on the effects of climate change in Georgia” said Gunter.
