Columbus State University student Brandon Corn will present his Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) abstract, “The Continuous Authentication of Mobile Users through Co-Authentication,” on February 6-8, 2020 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park hotel in Washington, D.C. as part of next year’s ERN (Emerging Researchers National) Conference.

“I'm really excited to have the opportunity to present the results of our research at the ERN conference,” says Corn. “It's an incredible chance to showcase our important work, network, and learn from talented people working tirelessly to make positive impacts through research and advance in the scientific community.”

The purpose of the abstract is to show how co-authentication (which, as stated by Mr. Corn, is “a single-factor authentication technique in which multiple registered devices work together to authenticate a user”) is user-friendly in terms of power usage size and information safety.

“We performed experiments using two Bluetooth compatible mobile devices and a stand-alone server connected to a local area network and running Co-Authentication continuously for eight hours to evaluate its power consumption in the mobile devices,” writes Corn in the abstract. “We found that the protocol uses approximately between 1.19% and 4.0% of the total power used by the devices [in that time frame].”
