Piedmont Columbus Regional and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta have completed a formal affiliation agreement under which Children’s will collaborate with Piedmont Columbus Regional Children’s Hospital to better serve children and families in the Columbus area. The affiliation will support Children’s and Piedmont Columbus’ commitment to providing high-quality continuity of pediatric care and expanding access to specialized pediatric care in Georgia.
“Children's has a special relationship with Columbus through Aflac and the Amos family, so we are thrilled to work together in an official capacity to better serve this wonderful community,” said Donna Hyland, CEO of Children’s. “This formal affiliation enables Children’s to provide coordinated care outside our hospital walls and supports our mission to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow. We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with a distinguished health system in Columbus and applaud the pediatricians and the pediatric leaders of the Columbus area for their commitment to improved pediatric care in their community.”
Piedmont Columbus Regional and Children's began the formal affiliation process in April of 2018. Under this agreement, Piedmont Columbus Children’s Hospital collaborated with Children’s with the goal of better serving children and families in the Columbus area.
“The Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation is proud to support this affiliation by providing funding for staff training, program startup, and physician outreach,” said Aline Lasseter, Executive Director of the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation. “The Piedmont Columbus Regional Children’s Hospital is the only children’s hospital in the Piedmont family and generous support for this program is provided by the community.”
Children’s provides tools, training and pediatric best practices to Piedmont’s nurses, respiratory therapists and physicians which focused on improving pediatric care quality and patient safety.
“This affiliation will enhance care coordination between Piedmont Columbus Regional Children’s Hospital and Children’s now and well into the future,” said Becky Cherrington, Director of Women and Children’s Services at Piedmont Columbus Regional. “Our affiliation is not the end of the process, it is the beginning of a collaboration which focuses on improving pediatric care in the Columbus area and keeping pediatric care close to home.”
