Philanthropic Columbus residents will show their moves on the dance floor for one exciting evening to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter. The event, Dancing Stars of Columbus, will take place on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Columbus Georgia Convention and Trade Center in Columbus, Georgia.
This year's Dancing Stars of Columbus local celebrity dancers include: Amanda Baker, Claire Berry, Zach Bishop, Sally Bowden, Hunter Bryan, Sanjay Choudhury, Matt Keller, Frazer Loomis, Kendall Meally, ChaCha Palmer, Rev. Marlon Scott, Jenny Swift, Evan Sussenbach, Collier Watson and Torrey Wiley.
Mirroring the popular TV show, this event pairs local Columbus residents with professional dancers to raise money by gaining votes in a one-night gala dance competition. Supporters can vote online for their favorite dancer prior to the event. In 2019, Dancing Stars of Columbus raised over $426,000 for Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs with the Alzheimer’s Association. 2019 winners included Judge’s Choice winner Margie Norman and People’s Choice winner Corrin Riley raising over $55,000.
“John and I are thrilled to be chairing this exciting event”, added Ashley Pezold. “John had the privilege of dancing several years ago and had the best time raising awareness was for such an important cause. My grandfather currently is living with this awful disease. How awesome would it be to find a cure for Alzheimer’s? Please make plans to attend this event - the talent will not disappoint and you can help make a difference”, she added.
