Junior League of Columbus' Project Prom
Staff Report From Columbus CEO
Tuesday, January 21st, 2020
For the tenth year, the Junior League of Columbus will host Project Prom on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Project Prom is an annual event that gives away free prom dresses to local junior and senior high school girls. We will offer new and gently used prom dresses and accessories at no cost. Since the event’s inception in 2011, the JLC has given away more than 800 dresses.
In addition to receiving the dress of their dreams, participants and their guests will also attend a workshop called “Be Smart, Guard Your Heart” provided by Right from the Start, a division of the Pastoral Institute. “Be Smart, Guard Your Heart” provides healthy relationship skills for young adults. This relationship class seeks to educate and equip young adults with the skills they need to avoid the emotional, social and physical pitfalls that can happen in an unhealthy relationship. Right from the Start will teach a condensed version of their “Be Smart” program. Those who come to the event will be required to go through the training before they select a dress.
Project Prom will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Saturday March 21, at the Columbus Library on Macon Road (3000 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31906). Students are not required to show financial need, but they are asked to bring a valid school ID. The event is first come, first served and lines form early.
