The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus (YOGC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $5,250 in two Walmart Community Grants.

The Walmart Foundation was created in 1982 to help support the communities Walmart serves. Together, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation provide more than $1 billion in cash and in-kind annual giving. The local community grants are awarded through an open application process and provide funding directly from Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities to immediately benefit their communities. YOGC gratefully received a $250 award from the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 4909 Buena Vista Road, and a $5,000 award from the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 7400 Blackmon Road.

“We love our community. That includes the students we serve, their families, our audience members, and our philanthropic partners. This is the first time Walmart is supporting YOGC, and they are stepping up to support our community’s children in a big way right off the bat. Our and board are grateful to use these funds towards the enrichment of the lives of over 100 young musicians and future community leaders" – Stephanie Payne, YOGC Executive Director.
