Tuesday, December 8th, 2020

Georgia Power has launched a second set of electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Columbus. The chargers are available for use now at the Burger King located adjacent to Columbus State University at 3103 Gentian Blvd Columbus, GA 31907. This additional EV charging site fills a corridor need along I-185 and Manchester Highway.

This gives Georgia Power nearly 50 fast-charger installations. Charging at the station will be complimentary to all drivers through January 4, 2021.

The charging station is capable of 62.5 kW output, and stations can pair together to offer 125 kW paired with PLUS 1x dual port Level 2 charging for overnight guests. Charging sessions require ChargePoint authorization, which is available atwww.georgiapower.chargepoint.com

The installation represents the newest technology in EV fast chargers, offering charging speeds up to 125kW – adding 100 miles in 12 minutes – dual dispensers and power sharing capability. Earlier this year, Georgia Power installed chargers in Rome, Columbus, Lavonia, Kingsland, Tifton, Forest Park and Milledgeville.

Georgia Power will invest $6 million over the next three years in fast-charging EV infrastructure for the public, further enabling electric vehicle adoption and connecting communities.
