Friday, December 11th, 2020
The Muscogee County School District is proud to recognize the achievement and status of the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) 2020 Exemplary School Board recognition for the Muscogee County School Board of Education.
“The 2020 GSBA Exemplary Board Award recognition is well deserved and I am proud of the Board’s leadership in remaining focused on maintaining a safe learning and working environment during the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Pat Hugley-Green, Muscogee County School Board Chair and GSBA President.
This recognition program is three-tiered and designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. GSBA recognizes good school board governance to foster educational community cultures in order to advance student learning and achievement. The three recognition levels are Quality, Distinguished, and Exemplary. Exemplary is the highest level. The Muscogee County School Board of Education met and/or exceeded the criteriaset forth by GSBA to earn the honor of a 2020 Exemplary Board.
“We commend our Board of Education on achieving this distinguished honor. This recognition is a testament to the individual and collective commitment our board members demonstrate as a governance team in support of our District’s critical mission and vision,” said Dr. David Lewis, Superintendent of Education.
Georgia superintendents and board members developed the GSBA Governance Team Recognition Program in 1998 based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance to recognize exemplary leadership.
The mission of the Georgia School Boards Association is to ensure excellence in the governance of local school systems by providing leadership, advocacy and services, and by representing the collective resolve of Georgia’s elected boards of education.
The mission of the Muscogee County School District is to inspire and equip all students to achieve unlimited potential. For more information, please contact the Office of Communications at 706.748.2034 or [email protected].
